*Tahoe is a beautiful and fun place to visit, but occasionally this area can be affected by extreme weather events.  While we never want things like icy roads, road closures, or smoke from wildfires to negatively impact our guests, it can happen. We ask travelers to plan their vacation appropriately for the rural mountain climate and encourage guests to research all travel insurance options, as Tahoe Moon Properties cannot provide refunds for things outside of our control.
Secret Serenity Chateau is a truly special home. You will not find another vacation rental that matches the history, location, and unique style that this property offers. It's all in the details here; Tiles from Liberace and Doris Day's past homes adorn the bathroom, and gorgeous historic light fixtures bring an elegant feel to this Tahoe Chateau.  This 4 bedroom, 2 ½ bath home sits on top of a hill at the end of the street, providing privacy, solitude, and gorgeous views! Guest's first stop when arriving at this home in the summer may as well be the massive wrap-around deck that provides the perfect setting for dining al fresco, sunbathing or BBQing under the stars with the whole family. Upon entering the house, the family and friends will be stunned by the beauty of the updated kitchen and great room sitting under vaulted ceilings. This area boasts a fireplace to cuddle up to on a cold winter's night. In the morning, hover around the nook in the kitchen while your breakfast is being made, and have your coffee while listening to the seasonal babbling creek that flows under the home. 
Beyond that space lies the first bedroom and common bathroom and into the library- that's right a vacation rental WITH A LIBRARY! Renters from the city just love that the main floor bedroom hovers rights above the babbling creek which makes for the most peaceful setting when you're trying to unwind. The bathroom- which we just can't tell you enough about-  is not your normal bathroom, either. The walls are covered with colorful and striking tiles from celebrities all around the world, as the owner had been a renowned contractor --each tile is from a different celebrity project. We gave you a hint about a few of the above, but you'll have to enjoy a stay here to really feel the enormity of the history here. There is a plaque that reveals where each tile was originally from, so spend some alone time, really digging in!
The primary bedroom, through the library, offers an en-suite bathroom with an elegant fireplace to separate the bathtub and the bed so you can relax either location and enjoy the peace and comfort a good fire provides. Above the library is a sizable loft, with three futons, and a table area perfect for those family game nights! This is more than a home; it is an experience that you and your family do not want to miss out on. Don't sleep on this one!
As for its location, Staying in the Cedar Flat neighborhood in Carnelian Bay puts you in the center of everything Lake Tahoe has to offer. Smack dab between Tahoe City and Kings Beach, offers the best of both worlds to travelers. Guests of Secret Serenity enjoy that the comforts of home lie just minutes from boating on the lake, or skiing at one of the many nearby ski resorts. Numerous hiking and biking trails are situated out the back of this neighborhood and cater to various levels of outdoorsmanship. And when it's time for a more casual adventure, the endless boutiques, and restaurants in the quaint North Lake Tahoe communities of Tahoe City, Tahoe Vista, Kings Beach, or the West Shore within just a short drive.

IMPORTANT:
On March 11th 2022, the county of Placer implemented a new Short Term Rental Ordinance which is very important for guests to abide by. Fines range from $1,500- 5,000 and can be issued to guests who are not in compliance. A full list of rules is attached as a photo in this listing. Some Highlights include:
   •Quiet hours are from 9pm to 8am. No noise shall be heard across property lines. No outdoor speakers or amplified sound are to be used at any time.
   •Dogs must be leashed at all times when outside of a property and all pet waste needs to be picked up.
   •Parking is limited to the following number of spaces: 2 in winter, 4 in summer
THINGS TO NOTE:
1. The road and driveway that lead to this home could be considered steep. The driveway is shaded, so in the winter months, renters will NEED to bring a 4WD or AWD car with snow tires to this location, and always carry tire chains just in case! 
2. In the Summer, 4 parking spaces are available, but in the winter the driveway is plowed large enough for only 2 vehicles. 
3. Although 80% of our properties are pet-friendly - this is NOT a pet-friendly property.  Please be respectful of this.  We do not consider service animals pets.  If you bring a dog, you will be subject to a fine and are in breach of contract which could result in being asked to leave the property
 
POLICIES & DISCLOSURES:
1. 2021 Update: Due to Extreme Fire Danger – The use of ANY outdoor firepit or fireplace is strictly prohibited at any of our rental properties. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to keep our community safe from wildfires.
2.As part of our commitment to being good neighbors, occupancy limits and quiet hours (9pm-8am) are strictly enforced. No speakers or sound systems will be provided for use in our properties. Violation of any noise ordinances will be subject to fines that can reach up to $10,000 per violation.
3.By local laws we have to charge a 12% occupancy tax (10% TOT tax + 2% TBID tax) with every booking. TBID, is placed on lodging, retail, restaurant and recreation businesses in North Lake Tahoe to raise money for visitor services, business support and advocacy, economic development, tourism mitigation and transportation services.
